10:00 AM SESSION
$30/person
Wednesday, October 21
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Get ready to play with paper, printmaking, color and texture!
In this fun, relaxed two-hour class, you’ll explore a variety of techniques for creating your own collection of colorful, textured and completely one-of-a-kind papers. Your finished papers can later be used for collage, cards, journals, signs, mixed-media projects and more.
We’ll jump into Gelli printing, experimenting with different papers, stencils, feathers, found objects and other tools to create layers of pattern and texture. You’ll also experiment with Yupo paper, inks or diluted watercolor, and even straws to create beautiful abstract designs.
If time allows, we’ll begin experimenting with coffee creations, using coffee spills and marks as inspiration for unexpected designs.
This class is all about experimenting, playing and discovering what different materials can do—there’s no pressure to create a finished art piece. Instead, you’ll leave with a collection of handmade papers ready to become part of your next creative project. The instructor will also share examples and ideas for putting your papers to use.
And this is just the beginning! Stay tuned for Part 2 and additional Paper & Printmaking classes with Jeanne, where we’ll continue exploring techniques such as altering photographs, crackle paper, resists, pulled-string painting, paper weaving, image transfers, homemade stamps and more.
