Oh, what fun you’ll have at the four-day art adventure for kids aged 9-12 years old with Jeanne Weymouth.
Kickstart a creative summer by jumping into a series of morning art classes. Here’s what we’ve cooked up for creative, curious kids!
Camp Curriculum
DAY 1
Needlefelting With A Twist!
It’s so much fun for kids to use special felting needles and mats to transform soft, wispy wool into delightful designs! This summer, we’ll take it a step further by adding simple stitching and embellishments to their felted piece. Then, we’ll sew it around a base to create a sturdy cylinder—voilà! A one-of-a-kind 3D work of art.
Later in the morning, students will experiment with gel plate printing and paint Styrofoam sheets to use in Tuesday’s project.
Supplies: All materials needed are provided in the class.
DAY 2
It’s a 3D Collage!
Students will use the papers they printed and Styrofoam they painted to create a whimsical 3D collage. They’ll cut shapes they love and build dimension by layering materials and adding raised elements with cardboard.
Whether abstract or filled with recognizable shapes, each piece will be unique—and students will gain a fun introduction to collage techniques.
Later in the morning, we’ll paint a collection of small sticks for Wednesday’s project.
Supplies: All materials needed are provided in the class.
DAY 3
Woodland Mobile & Button Bouquet!
Students will work with natural sticks (gathered, cleaned, and pre-drilled) to create a woodland mobile. They can paint designs, add embellishments, and even include names or short stories—making it a meaningful, personal piece for their room.
Later, we’ll begin our Button Bouquets! Using colorful buttons, wire, and beads, students will design cheerful bouquets to display in a small vase provided for each participant.
Supplies: All materials needed are provided in the class.
DAY 4
Button Bouquets & Paper Bead Jewelry
We’ll start by finishing our beautiful button bouquets.
Then, students will learn the art of paper bead making, inspired by traditional African techniques. Using their handmade beads along with commercial beads and buttons, they’ll create playful jewelry—necklaces, bracelets, chokers, anklets, and more!
End-of-Camp Celebration
Day 4 will conclude with a Camp-end Celebration. This short Celebration will begin at noon.
